Waiting….

The Nine Lives of Hope Felidae is subbed out to a publisher at the moment. I have to wait three months before following up. I am being completely unproductive on the writing side lately so my mind keeps wondering to the wait. I need to do something useful with my spare time.

The Game is Afoot

Over on All Pulp this week Jade Amulet has made it into their top ten which is really pleasing.

On top of that, there was a cracking new review on amazon. Which is very encouraging. I need to get some stuff edited and off to my erstwhile publisher I guess.

I’ve been struggling the last few weeks, seems like I have lots of half formed thoughts and get two or three thousand words in and feel lost. I need to sort myself out and get stuck into something again. In the mean time, Jade Amulet is out there and so far has been well received.

Happy New Year

Well after a quiet Christmas (Bertie and I are still working our way though the frozen turkey leftovers) I’m getting some writing done. I need to do another edit at some point before submitting either Nine Lives of Hope Felidae or Tango’s Last Case to Anachron. I’m also looking at doing some early cases for Cash and Tango at some point. We will see if that goes anywhere.

And I started the new year with another good review, so that’s a nice start. 🙂

Kind Words about Jade Amulet

Tony’s Thoughts have reviewed the book and I am delighted with his commentary. Looking forward to getting more writing done over Christmas.

Here is the Review

For anyone else who likes Tango (also my favourite character) i’ve been working on a novella just for Tango, Pip and Cash, and I may do a collection of their earlier cases, with Cash really indulging in his fantasy that it’s still the 40’s and terms like ‘gams’ and ‘mook’ are still acceptable for PI’s.

Cash likes to believe he’s channelling Sam Spade

And I have a mix of guest posts and flash fiction on the Anachron Site you can check out.

And next…

So Jade is out, and it’ll be a while before I know how it’s doing. I’m hoping for some reviews or something soon so I can see how it’s being received. Unless you all hate it, in which case I don’t want to know.  In the mean time of course I’ve written and submitted what I hope will be my next book for Anachron’s pulp line.  ‘The Nine Lives of Hope Felidae’.

Thinking about Hope had me looking at Parkour images on google and these people are seriously amazing. If you get some time google them, or watch some free running on youtube. Or try it for yourself, I might pass on that and stick with youtube.

Red Letter Day

We harnessed the lightning, burned down the castle and may have killed an Igor or two but it’s alive.

Pulp Line No.1 presents a collection of four pulp tales by Jack Calico.

Curse of the Jade Amulet:

PIs Cash and Tango, aren’t your average private investigators. They deal in the strange, the weird, and the dangerous. Their latest commission is brought to them by a smoking hot dame looking for ancient Chinese artefact.

The Last Broadcast:

A lone ex-private investigator misses the apocalypse while scuba diving, and upon their return, takes to their boat in order to find out what ended the world.

Sinope:

Summer Cream isn’t your average stripper. This girl’s got grit and a plan. Listen to her story of blood, pole-dancing, gangsters, and a new boss in town.

Full Moon Fever:

Cash and Tango return for another case. This time it’s closer to her home: Tango’s sister has been kidnapped, and she isn’t what her kidnappers think. Cash and Tango travel across country and discover their case is deadlier than they realised.

Always onto the next thing

Thing with this writing lark, no matter how pleased you are with a book, or how excited you get about cover art, releases etc, you are always thinking about the next thing. Since being picked up for Pulp Line, Jade Amulet has had quite a quick turn around. In spite of that I have already submitted a novella for consideration for the line and have a Cash & Tango novella waiting to go off once  I know where we are with the current submission. I’m already moving on to the next thing.  It never stops. It’s a little exhausting. I don’t know how people focus on one thing for 100,000 words quite frankly.

Anyway, all that said, things don’t stand still with Pulp Line either, No’s 2 and 3 in Pulp line have had their cover reveals.

I think they look pretty great

No 4 also looks amazing

and here’s Jade in case you’ve forgotten what it looked like since the last post.

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 1, 2,

Thought it was time I carved out a little space in theworld for myself with the book coming out soon. While I’m getting settled here you can check out my series of guest posts over at Anachron Press (my ever patient publisher). There are two up so far and a few more to come before the release. They include a couple of survivor stories from the Last Broadcast and more of those will go up here in the next few weeks as well.
